Presentation: Future of LMS’s

I presented on “Beyond Angel: The Future of LMS’s” to LCC faculty as part of LCC’s Professional Development Days. A copy of the powerpoint is here. I have an .mp3 file of the audio here. Both are unedited. I’m planning to edit and combine them into a flash presentation that I’ll post to my new blog at eproph.wordpress.com.

The description was:

Web 2.0 technologies and open source software are changing the world of learning management systems. Schools are moving beyond ANGEL/Blackboard and using Moodle, Sakai, Blogs, Wiki’s, Second Life and more. Learn about what’s possible today and discuss what tomorrow might bring.

Writing Class

Spoke to Jill Reglin’s Writing class about “Is the Recession Over?”.  A copy of the presentation is available at:
Powerpoint File

MP3 audio of the lecture itself

It’s in powerpoint format (ppt).  If you don’t have Microsoft Powerpoint, download OpenOffice from the “Free Software” page link at the top of this page. OpenOffice is free and will open Powerpoint, Word, and Excel documents.

Online Books

I made a presentation to LS Division faculty at Fall 2009 Kick-off meeting about online books.  I shared our experience in Econ with the Taylor book and looked at different publishers’ strategies, as well as student concerns. Presentation here.

Sub-Committee: Express Server and Storage Space

The E-Learning Advisory Board has formed a temporary, ad-hoc sub-committee to address the storage limitations of the Angel system and start bringing an in-house web content server for teaching materials up to speed (Express server).

New Committee Assignment: e-Learning Advisory Board

LCC has just formed an e-Learning Advisory Board to help the the e-Learning Department, connect to faculty, make policy for e-Learning issues,  help with technology issues, and just generally improve and expand the e-Learning programs at LCC.  I’ve been asked to join. I am looking forward to it.

Web 2.0 Faculty Presentation

I presented a 40 minute talk on Web 2.0 and the Future of Teaching to the Lansing Community College Liberal Studies Division faculty on Jan. 5, 2009.  The presentation is here.

Credit Crunch & Economy Faculty Roundtable

I hosted a faculty roundtable presentation/discussion on the current economic crisis and the credit crunch at the LCC Faculty Professional Development day, January 9, 2009.

New Assignment: E-Portfolio Task Force Chair

The CWAC decided to form an ad-hoc task force to examine college-wide opportunities for e-Portfolio software.  The intent is to find a way to digitize the Writing program’s portfolio assessment process and also determine whether such software might have use elsewhere on campus.

Committee Assignment: College-Wide Assessmet Committee (CWAC)

I have been a member of the College-Wide Assessment Committee since it was formed at LCC back in 2003 (2004?).  I have served as the Chair of the Professional Development and Tools Sub-committee.
